20th Annual Round Rock ISD Festival of Bands

Tickets are for sale online, $7 for adults and $5 for students. All ages.

Band members from 16 District middle and high schools will take the field to perform in a Round Rock ISD musical exhibition tradition, Festival of Bands, in its 20th year.

The spectacular sights and sounds of Festival of Bands draw more than 4,000 community members to celebrate the musical achievements of Round Rock ISD students, in the District’s instrumental music programs.

Fans can expect to enjoy performances from concert and marching bands, and color guard teams. Spike from the Round Rock Express will be on hand to join the fun.

How to Manage Stress and Anxiety

For: Parents/Guardians and their student(s), grades 8-12.

Presenter: Dr. Amy Grosso, Round Rock ISD Future Readiness.

Anxiety is currently the most common mental health issue for students with one out of three dealing with anxiety. Knowing the difference between stress and anxiety can allow parents to better support their children. The presentation will provide information on stress, anxiety, and resources available.

Fiesta Mexicana - Celebrating Culture through Dance Showcase

Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15 - Oct. 15

Students from Cedar Ridge, Round Rock, Stony Point high schools, C.D. Fulkes and Hernandez middle schools study and practice classical and folkloric dance techniques; and perform together as Alma Mexicana Ballet Folklorico in traditional Mexican costumes.

Ballet Folklorico is a collective term for traditional Mexican dances that emphasize regional culture with ballet characteristics – pointed toes, exaggerated movements and highly choreographed. The art of Ballet Folklorico blends elements from its indigenous, African and European heritage.

Enjoy the artistry of four award-winning groups:

• Alma Mexicana Ballet Folklorico

• Round Rock Ballet Folklorico

• Guzman Ballet Folklorico

• Ballet Folklorico Orgullo Mexicano (Cedar Creek High School / Bastrop ISD)

Personal Financial Literacy for High Schoolers

An FYI community health and well-being seminar, Free

For: Parents/Guardians and their student(s), grades 9 -12.

Presenter: Dean Somerville is the author of Make Me Rich: The Path to Financial Freedom for your High School / College Student.

The seminar is an interactive presentation that shows high school students how to succeed financially, keep them from living paycheck to paycheck, and be able to comfortably retire someday. It will include the advantages of starting to save early in life, living below your means, saving for retirement, and investing in the stock market.

Location: Old Hopewell Meeting Room, immediately adjacent to the Round Rock ISD Lillie Delgado Administration Building located at 1311 Round Rock Ave. in Round Rock.
