I have been teaching for 20 years. I have taught kindergarten through 4th grade. I became interested in teaching after volunteering in my son's first-grade classroom. I then returned to school to get my master's degree in Elementary Education. I love teaching, and it has been a lifelong passion. I have two grown sons, Tarek and Hanny. They are both out of college and working. They both live in Austin with their dog Jaffy.
I grew up in Tennessee and Brooklyn, New York. I attended undergraduate school at Hunter College in NYC and majored in Public Health. After graduation, I took a year off and decided to go back to school to get a Master's in Social Work. I worked in the mental health field for 8 years before I left to be a stay-at-home mom. A few years later, I returned to graduate to get my degree in education.
I am thrilled to be the TAG Specialist at Purple Sage. Purple Sage is a terrific school with a supportive staff and parent group, and I am lucky to be a part of this community. I love teaching math and leading inquiry-based projects. Students learn best when they can choose topics they are interested in.
I believe in a strong parent-teacher relationship and look forward to getting to know you. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions or concerns.
