Practical Writing
Practical Writing is a unique and challenging course for students at Round Rock ECHS. Before students can venture into the world of dual credit classes, they will need to pass the Texas Success Initiative Assessment or TSI. We will be spending this semester learning the reading and writing skills needed to pass the TSI while meeting the demands and rigor of a college-style setting.

Homework Policy: Both Practical Writing and Technical Writing incorporate the Engage2Learn model of instruction. Focus within the classroom is based on individualized activities geared towards the mastery of content. No formal homework is assigned with the understanding that progress checks for each unit are completed by the due dates in the unit calendar. If students are taking care of their work within the classroom and managing their deadlines, they will likely have minimal homework for the course.
Grading Policy: Formative Assessments (Progress Checks)- 60%
Summative Assessments (Final Products) - 40%
Assignments will be due by the end of the class period detailed on the unit calendar. Any late assignments may be collected for a 10% deduction for every calendar day it is late. After 3 days, only 50% credit can be awarded for the assignment. Students may be pulled for Friday interventions in order to catch up on assignments or for reteaching on certain topics.
