Spicewood Science Fair

Welcome to Spicewood Science Fair!

December 11th Update:

Good afternoon Science Fair Participants,

I have a few Action Items and Updates for you!

#1 - Final Project Registration - This was originally due on December 14th. Most people will not be able to complete this form due to completing their experiments over Winter Break. We will push this deadline to January 5th. This is a hard deadline rather than a suggested one. We need this to review safety procedures to ensure projects are safe and allowable at the fair.

#2 - Topic Selection - Remember that topics should be selected and approved by myself or your homeroom teacher before leaving for break. 4th & 5th Graders projects should be an experiment or an engineering project, not just a research project or model. If you are not sure the difference, please review the parent guide and other resources on the Spicewood Science Fair website. If still not sure, please reach out to me! Projects that do not fall into this category will not be eligible to compete to move on to the regional science fair.

#3 - Final Products - Please remember to bring your display board to school by January 8th. Your project will stay at the school through the 11th. You can take your project home after the public viewing and disbursement of ribbons on the evening of the 11th.

#4 - Judging - Students should prepare to discuss their projects with a judge(s) for around 3 minutes and answer questions for 2 minutes. If you know someone that would make a good science fair judge send them to our website soon to volunteer (parents/guardians and relatives are not eligible to judge)

#5 - Volunteering - Please keep an eye on the principal newsletter and the Science Fair Website for opportunities to volunteer to set up, clean-up, and donate.

As always please reach out if we can be of any assistance!

November 28th Update:

If you missed the science-fair sign up and are still wanting to participate please email one of the sponsors. In our due dates and parent guide we proposed a timeline for completion of this project. This is a suggested timeline. The suggested time to have a project question and teacher approval is Nov 27th, again this is a suggestion. There is no registration for their project question at this time, just a check-in/approval from their homeroom teacher or Miss Lucas. The reason we need to get teacher approval is to make sure that their project is appropriate for the fair and/or make sure upper grade-level students are doing experiments/engineering rather than just a research project or a model. They need to check in with their teacher before the break so that they can get started on their project. Students don't need to have the final registration with the project question and procedure until December 14th.  Please reach out with any further questions! - Miss Lucas

On this site, you will find all the resources needed to conduct a successful science fair project! If you are interested in participating in the science fair this year please review the parent guide, guide lines, and due dates then sign up below by November 27th, so we can get a good idea on how many students will be participating.
