2023-2024 SPHS Counseling Department

     The mission of the Stony Point High School Counseling Department is to support the unique and highly individual personal, academic, career and social/emotional development of students through a developmentally appropriate and all-inclusive comprehensive counseling program, which is systematically designed and delivered to all students, in order to ensure a purposeful, knowledgeable and meaningful mechanism for positive societal change and contribution to the world at large, now and in the future. 

     The Stony Point High School Counseling Department will empower students to successfully access and navigate resources to meet their needs. We foster self-initiative and perseverance to promote student success in a dynamic global society. We will encourage personal inquiry and growth, social responsibility and academic and/or career excellence. 

We believe:

• Our students recognize how to reach their fullest potential, and achieve their short and long-term academic, personal, and career goals through resilience and tenacity. 

• Our students consider how their actions impact the world around them, understand and appreciate their own culture and history, and are open to the ideas, perspectives, values, beliefs and traditions of other individuals and communities.

• School counselors serve as the integral connection between all stakeholders (parents, teachers, administrators, etc.) in order to maximize student growth, achievement and physical/mental well-being.

• School counselors utilize data analysis with intentionality, which is critical to planning, managing and implementing a successful comprehensive school counseling program for the benefit and inclusion of ALL students.
