Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grading scale

Participates in Activities:

Level 1: Listens and participates occasionally in musical experiences with consistent reminders and redirections.

Level 2: Listens for a sustained period of time and participates in musical experiences with few reminders or redirections.

Level 3: Listens actively and responds to musical experiences.

Level 4: Listens critically and expands ideas and experiences to demonstrate new insight in musical experiences.


Demonstrates Concepts and Skills:

Kindergarten:

Level 1: Demonstrates singing, beat and an understanding of musical comparatives with direct guidance.

Level 2: Demonstrates singing, beat and an understanding of musical comparatives with minimal guidance.

Level 3: Consistently demonstrates singing, beat and an understanding of musical comparatives.

Level 4: Independently demonstrates singing, beat and an understanding of musical comparatives.


1st and 2nd Grade:

Level 1: Demonstrates singing, beat, rhythm and an understanding of rhythmic and melodic concepts with direct guidance.

Level 2: Demonstrates singing, beat, rhythm and an understanding of rhythmic and melodic concepts with minimal guidance.

Level 3: Consistently demonstrates singing, beat, rhythm and an understanding of rhythmic and melodic concepts.

Level 4: Independently demonstrates singing, beat, rhythm and an understanding of rhythmic and melodic concepts.


3rd, 4th, and 5th Grading Scale

E - Excellent - Independently demonstrates singing, beat, rhythm and an understanding of rhythmic and melodic concepts. Listens critically and expands ideas and experiences to demonstrate new insight in musical experiences.

S - Satisfactory - Consistently demonstrates singing, beat, rhythm and an understanding of rhythmic and melodic concepts. Listens actively and responds to musical experiences.

N - Needs improvement - Demonstrates singing, beat, rhythm and an understanding of rhythmic and melodic concepts with minimal guidance. Listens for a sustained period of time and participates in musical experiences with few reminders or redirections.

U - Unsatisfactory - Is unable to demonstrate singing, beat and rhythm or an understanding of rhythmic and melodic concepts. Chooses not to listen or participate in musical experiences and needs many reminders or redirections.

***At this time, the electronic grade book automatically assigns a percentage score to each letter. This is not accurate and should be ignored. Specials are not graded with a percentage scale, but with the above letter scale.
