Grading Policy

Grading in second grade is simple. We do not give letter grades. Our report card grading system is the same as used in first grade. We do begin to use numerical grades (92/100) for cumulative tests, in order for the students to be exposed to the third grade method of grading. In third grade the report cards change.

· “Correct and return” papers (sent home in the red homework folder) are due back the next day.

· √+, √, √- will be given for practice work. √- will indicate less than 70% accuracy. Please help your child make corrections on √- work, initial the assignment, and return it the following day. Reteach and additional practice will be provided at school.

· Numerical grades will be given for cumulative tests and some progress checks.

· GP denotes guided practice, meaning the assignment was completed as a class or with teacher assistance. This is often the case with math practice worksheets.
