Meet Mrs.Mahesh

Hello! My name is Sangeetha Mahesh and I am so thrilled to be a part of the wonderful Herrington community. 

I was born and raised in a coastal city called Chennai in South India. After completing my Bachelor's and Master's degrees, I decided to pursue my interest in the area of Special Education. I have a Doctorate in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Madras. My research was about empowering general education teachers about specific learning disabilities. I enjoyed this journey so much that I wanted to learn more and work directly with children having special learning needs. I earned a Certification in Special Education with a specialization in Specific Learning Disabilities from Minnesota State University, Mankato. I worked  as a Special Education Teacher in Minnesota in a Public Charter School before moving to Texas. 

I have been married to my husband for 17 years and we have two beautiful children. My son is in high school and my daughter is in middle school at Round Rock ISD. I enjoy spending a lot of time with my family. I love traveling with them to interesting destinations. One of the most favorite places that I have visited is Prince Edward Island in Canada. We have lived in Houston, Minneapolis, Rochester, and Scottsdale and decided to move to Round Rock five years ago. 

Some of my favorite things include: fine arts (I love to sing and paint), archaeology, history, nutrition and life sciences, yoga, reading books (the written word fascinates me!) , origami, cooking different types of vegan and vegetarian cuisines, nature walks, baking, gardening, embroidery, learning new languages (I' love learning Spanish from my kids),  understanding, experiencing and appreciating the different cultures of the world through traveling.
