Students do not receive numerical grades in kindergarten, first and second grade. Students will receive meaningful feedback from their teachers to guide their learning. The RRISD Primary Report Card is a standards-based continuum, meaning that progress is reported on the knowledge and skills your child is expected to master at each grade level. The continuum is based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and ranges from Performance Level 1 to Performance Level 4.
Level 1 - Exhibits skill/concept with direct guidance
Level 2 – Exhibits skill/concept with minimal guidance
Level 3 – Exhibits mastery of skill/concept
Level 4 – Exhibits understanding beyond grade level expectation.
Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade earn E, S, N, or U grades for Specials class performance.
E Exceeding
S Satisfactory
N Needs improvement
U Unsatisfactory
In Art Education, students are graded on a variety of concepts and skills that are aligned with the Fine Arts TEKS, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, as well as the Art Education standards for Round Rock ISD.
In 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade, students earn letter grades such as “E”, “S”, “N”, and “U”. Students will receive grades based on demonstrating concepts and skills, participating in activities, correct use of techniques and tools and daily creativity and comprehension.
“E” stands for EXCEEDING, which means that a student is above grade level expectations.
“S” stands for SATISFACTORY, which means that a student is meeting grade level expectations.
“N” stands for NEEDS IMPROVEMENT, which means that a student is struggling with meeting grade level expectations.
“U” stands for UNSATISFACTORY, which means that a student is performing below grade level expectations.
Teachers assess a student’s performance level through observation, work samples, dialogue, performance tasks, and other informal and formal measures. Students are retaught at the time of need and given multiple opportunities to show mastery of a concept or skill.
