After graduating from Southwest Texas State University (Texas State), with a degree in education, I started my career at the Austin Nature and Science Center in Zilker Park. I was given the amazing opportunity to develop and teach the science curriculum for the public education programs for ages 3 through adult. Eventually, I felt the desire to go into the classroom, and I began teaching in Round Rock ISD in December of 2003. After starting as a Gifted and Talented Teacher at Forest North Elementary School, I found that my true calling was teaching middle school. In the fall of 2004, I moved to Cedar Valley Middle School where I taught 7th grade science and started the Robotics Program. I left Cedar Valley after my first son was born to become the Instructional Technology Specialist at Deerpark Middle School where I started another robotics program in 2009. After 8 years at Deerpark, I was extremely honored to be asked to open Pearson Ranch Middle school in 2017. School has not even started and I'm already blown away by how innovative our amazing staff is! As an Instructional Technology Specialist, I train staff and students on how to utilize technology in educational applications. I've also had the opportunity to become a Certified Google Trainer. It has truly become my passion to provide meaningful professional development to not only Deerpark staff, but also throughout the district.
I live with, my husband Chris, and my two boys, Michael and Owen, and my daughter Madeline. I also have a cat, Velcro and a spunky dog that is 1/2 Corgi and 1/2 Labrador (our Corgidor) named, Bella. In my spare time (what little there is of it), besides playing with all of the techie tools that I get to learn about through school, I enjoy GeoCaching with my kids, baking, sewing and a little HGTV!
