Welcome to Ms. Pickett's English II

Meet the Teacher

Hello! My name is Kylie Pickett, and I am so excited to be teaching Advanced and On-Level English II this year.

I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2023 with my B.A. in Rhetoric & Writing and Psychology, as well as my minor in the UTeach-Liberal Arts program. I have had the honor and privilege of working with 8th graders at Small Middle School in Austin ISD, 10th and 11th graders at the Liberal Arts and Sciences Academy in Austin ISD, 11th graders here at McNeil, and now your 10th graders. I very much look forward to getting to know my new students!

I was raised in the DFW area, but when I moved to Austin for university in 2020, I found a unique sense of belonging. My favorite thing about Austin is the amount and diversity of restaurants. I grew up in a small town, so you were lucky to have one of any restaurant at all. When I'm not reading, writing, and teaching, you can find me spending time online playing Minecraft with my little brother (who is a 12th grader in my hometown), going to see live music, or trying new restaurants.
