Hypothesis Tests for Means when the mean is known (1-Sample Z Test for a Mean)
- Geogebra Applet for 1-Sample Z Test for a Mean
 - First, it is very unusual to know the standard deviation of a population but not it's mean. If you know sigma, then use this test. Otherwise, use T-Test for a Mean (below).
 - Select “Z Test of a Mean”
 - • Null: put in the hypothesized value for mu.
 - • Alternative hypothesis: select <, >, or not equal to.
 - • Sample Mean put in the mean that was given to you or calculated for the data and the sample.
 - • Sigma: enter the standard deviation for the population.
 - • N: Enter the sample size.
 - • The P-value is the last number in the report.
 - • It also provides the test statistic, Z.
