I am Ann Nguyen, and I am beyond proud to be teaching AP Literature and Asian American Studies at Round Rock High School. I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in English and obtained my ELAR 7th-12th teaching certification through the UTeach-Liberal Arts Program. After student teaching here at RRHS, I have taught English for the past 10 years, and during the 2023 - 2024 school year, I co-piloted the first year long Asian American Studies course at a high school in Texas.
As part of a lineage of educators and a daughter of Vietnamese refugees, I am committed to embrace discomfort and change, to preserve love and empathy, to cultivate curiosity and community. I hope to facilitate conversations that challenge and expand our perceptions of the English language and what it means to be readers, writers, and critical and independent thinkers.
When I am not having a blast teaching, I enjoy reading in the company of my pup, drawing and painting novels to life, dabbling in film photography, enjoying Austin's live music, and exploring museums.
