Ahoy Matey!

Welcome to Ms. Poirier's first grade website. Please check this page weekly for information about what's happening with our crew.

Please make sure to check your student's blue folder for their Walk to Read donation form. Partnering with Libraries of Love is one small way that together, we can make a big difference.

Week 20

Our week was filled with snowmen! We read lots of snowmen stories and the Pirates worked hard on writing their own snowmen stories. We will publish those (with a special cover) next week. We will wrap up our winter discussion next week with some Snow Globe stories. I wonder what the Pirates would do if they had a snow day...? This week we also observed the temperatures at different times of the day and observed the weather. Next week we will discuss maps and geographical features.

In math this week, we practiced making 10 to help us in multi-step addition problems. We will continue to practice this, but this week we are going to focus on the equal sign and equality.

Our week began with a visit from a special guest. We sang songs, read books, and talked about ways we all can be good friends.

We might not be able to make snowmen out of snow, but we can be creative with a sock!

Mrs. Richards has challenged the LME staff to think about being sustainable and aware of trash and recycling. Please consider purchasing a re-useable water bottle to send in with your Pirate. We have several un-opened, disposable water bottles left behind everyday.

Just too fun to remove. We love being pirates!
