Welcome to

First Grade !

Good evening guardians,

I hope you are all doing well. Please tell your child that I miss him or her! I truly do. I am saddened by the thought of not seeing them tomorrow morning! As you know, Round Rock ISD schools and offices are closed from Monday, March 23rd through Friday, April 3rd. Unfortunately, I cannot provide any additional academic support until Monday, April 6th per Mrs. Holding's email. If you have any questions or concerns that need immediate attention, please email our principal, Katie Holding, at katie_holding@roundrockisd.org

Please stay safe and I hope to see you soon!

Sincerely,

Ms. Menchaca

  • Click the link
  • Enter in Teacher's Username - MsMenchaca2020
  • Click your child's name
  • Enter the Rabbit as the password
  • Click go
  • Click Reading and you will find the paper white books I send home.

Students can read them from home on a tablet or computer/laptop. :)

Students can currently read books that are 3 levels below their current reading level. These books will help build your child's confidence, fluency, and automaticity. They can also read books that are 2 levels higher than their current reading level. These books can help challenge them and build their reading skills. However, as these books will most likely be challenging, please be mindful of having your child read them immediately. We do not want them to become frustrated or discouraged with reading. Students can read and listen to these books. I encourage you to have them read at least 1/2 of them first and then listen to the story. Although, listening to books is a great thing to do, we must ensure students are practicing their reading skills constantly. Thus, try to avoid them listening to all of the books first and then reading them. :)

The Headsprout Icon will take you to sound games. It may advance as your child progresses through the levels. However, I am not completely sure at the moment.

I will continue to post resources on my website.

Sincerely,

Ms. Menchaca
