Welcome to 5th grade and the learning community of Klein's Chameleons! I'm Mrs. Klein, and I am thrilled to embark on this journey with you and your family as we begin the 2025-2026 school year. As I start my fifteenth year of teaching, there is no place I'd rather be than Laurel Mountain. The passion, creativity, and joy exhibited by students, our staff, and the LME community continually inspire me.
As an educator, I am committed to growing the hearts and minds of every child. Throughout the school year, students will be encouraged to embrace challenges, connect and collaborate with classmates, and simply have fun. Each child's identity and interests will be valued and supported in our learning community. Within our safe, nurturing environment, students will be empowered to reach their full potential through joy and perseverance.
A little information about myself: I was born and raised in Southern California and graduated from the University of California, Riverside, with a bachelor's degree in Sociology/Law & Society. Teaching is a second career for me, and I can say without a doubt that I have found my passion! My certification in education includes Early Childhood-6th Grade, ESL (English as a second language), and TAG (talented and gifted). Becoming an educator has been one of the best decisions of my life.
My family relocated to Austin in the summer of 2016. Texas is the fourth state I've lived in, and I absolutely love Austin. We feel incredibly fortunate to have found this inclusive community and excellent school district. My husband and I have been married for twenty-seven adventure-filled years, and we have two amazing children.
Amanda, our oldest, is beginning her second year as an English/ Special Education Teacher, and Tommy is a senior at Texas A&M, studying Math and Education with the aspiration of becoming a middle school Math Teacher. I’m not quite ready to stop sharing about the spoiled member of our family, Charlee, our Goldendoodle, who passed away this summer. For twelve years she filled our lives with joy, comfort, and unconditional love. Our hearts are heavy, but they’re also full of unforgettable memories we’ll hold close.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, golfing, puzzling, working out, lounging in the pool with a good book, and playing board and card games.
I look forward to partnering with every Chameleon and Mountaineer family and having a successful year of learning, laughing, and making new memories. Fifth grade is going to be fabulous!
Sincerely,
Traycee Klein
