About Mrs. Klein

Welcome to 5th grade and the learning community of Klein's Chameleons! I'm Mrs. Klein, and I am thrilled to embark on this journey with you and your family as we begin the 2023-2024 school year. As I start my thirteenth year of teaching, there is no place I'd rather be than Laurel Mountain. The passion, creativity, and joy exhibited by students, our staff, and the LME community continuously inspires me to be my best.

As an educator, I am committed to growing the hearts and minds of every child. Throughout the school year, students will be encouraged to embrace challenges, connect and collaborate with classmates, and simply have fun. Each child's identity and interests will be valued and supported in our learning community. Within our safe, nurturing environment, students will be empowered to reach their full potential through joy and perseverance.

A little information about myself: I was born and raised in Southern California and graduated from the University of California, Riverside, with a bachelor's degree in Sociology/Law & Society. Teaching is a second career for me, and I can say without a doubt that I have found my passion! My certification in education includes Early Childhood-6th Grade, ESL (English as a second language), and TAG (talented and gifted).  Becoming an educator has been one of the best decisions of my life.

My family relocated to Austin in the summer of 2016. Texas is the fourth state I've lived in, and I absolutely love Austin. We feel incredibly fortunate to have found this inclusive community and excellent school district. My husband and I have been married for twenty-five adventure-filled years, and we have two amazing children.

Amanda graduates from Texas State University this year and aspires to be a high school Special Education Teacher, and Tommy will be a junior at Texas A&M, studying biology, statistics, and education. The spoiled member of our family is our Goldendoodle, Charlee. She provides us with much joy and unconditional love.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, golfing, puzzling, hiking, working out, lounging in the pool with a good book, playing board and card games, and taking Charlee on long walks.

I look forward to partnering with you and having a successful year of learning, laughing, and making new memories. Fifth grade is going to be fabulous!
