Expectations
Dress Code: "Ms. B, what should I wear?"
This year dancers will provide their own active wear!
Solid Black Shirt, must be school appropriate. No low neckline, no tank tops, no sheer tops, or crop tops. [20 pts]
Solid Black leggings or solid black joggers (example- basketball shorts for boys) [20 pts]
Hair must be pulled back into a clean ponytail, bun or braid and secured with a hair tie. [20 pts]
Jewelry including rings, watches, necklaces, bracelets and earrings (Studs are okay) will not be worn to class as they are distracting and potentially dangerous to the moving dancer. [20 pts]
Black jazz shoes are recommended (if you have them bring it to class)
If dancers don't have jazz shoes, they will bring socks to dance everyday - black socks highly recommended!
For every item not worn properly, you will get points taken off (except for case-by-case basis). Dress code in the dance classroom is an important part of the curriculum :)

Intersection Performance:
7th and 8th grade dance students will perform in the annual RRISD Dance Show “Intersection.”
Students are expected to find their own transportation to the PAC for Dress rehearsal and the Show.
This event is held at the Performing Arts Center (PAC) next to the McNeil High School campus. The show will be on Saturday October 30th, 2021 at 12:00 pm
Clear your schedules now and have your immediate family attend. It is sure to be a grand event! Students will be provided costumes and will dance barefoot for ALL performances. More information will follow soon.
Dance Spring Show:
Each year the dancers prepare several dances for the annual Dance Spring Show. Spring Show is an exciting event that showcases many dance styles around a central theme. This event is a great showcase of our dance talent at Grisham Middle School. At this time the dates are to be decided, but look for a handout/packet in the foreseeable future!
Attendance:
If dancers miss class, it will be the responsibility of the student to learn missed choreography from a peer outside of class.
practice videos and agenda of the day will be added onto schoology to review what was missed (same as last year)
It is the student’s responsibility to check with the teacher when an absence has occurred for any make-up assignments and assessments (posted on schoology)
Grading Policy:
Assessments (skills test, history quizzes, performances): 40%
Responsibility (dress out, participate, daily grade): 60%
