Meet Mrs. Thanky

Meet Mrs. Thanky

This is my 34th year teaching Kindergarten at Brushy Creek! I have also taught music in New York and first grade in Florida. I play the guitar in class so we can sing and move to music for a good brain break. The Texas Garden is an outdoor classroom for native plants which we learn from and work in during the year. I like teaching kindergarten students to give them a strong foundation for learning and life.

I was born in Brooklyn, grew up in Ossining, New York and graduated from TCU. As a child, my family camped during the summer as we traveled to interesting and historic places around the country. I've visited India several times with my husband, Prakash, who was born there and we lived in Hong Kong for two years. We have two children. Amol is a chef and lives in San Francisco, California. Mallika is a data scientist who works for an Austin company but lives in Chicago.

I like to read, walk and garden with native plants. My husband and I like to relax by watching movies at home. I have traveled overseas, but want to visit Russia when it gets safer. Mallika's turtle-named Mertle has gone to join her friends at the turtle lady; Homey, our bearded dragon, died of old age and we have a shelter cat, Miss Kitty, who keeps us entertained with her antics.
