Getting to know Mrs. Rush

I had the privilege of being born and raised in Southern Africa and immigrated to the United States when I was 12 years old. I have always enjoyed spending my time with children and helping out in any way I could starting from babysitting as a teenager, to having a big family of my own, and now my passion of teaching.

In 2003 I married my best friend, Joe Rush who is my rock! He teaches me so much by pursuing his own dreams and starting his own business both in Round Rock and Bastrop. As I mentioned I have a big family of 5 AMAZING children. Lex is in college, Sydney and Kylie are in high school, and Cadee and Jaden are in middle school. I have 4 dogs and 2 cats so you can say my house is loud and full of excitement on a regular basis. I enjoy traveling the world, camping with my family, BBQ get together with friends, watching movies or even just reading a good book.

I had the opportunity to visit the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia and I was inspired to make learning fun while still holding students to high standards. I love teaching and it is my favorite moment when a student has an "AHA" moment in the middle of a lesson when they really "get it".

I taught 4th grade for one year, I had the privilege of being the Behavior Interventionist for 3 years, and now I'm on my second year in 3rd grade. All of these amazing years have been spent at Callison Elementary which is my home away from home.

I look forward to spending the year watching your students have their "AHA" moments as they grow over the next year together. I also look forward to partnering with you as their family to help ensure they have a successful third grade year!
