Meet the Teacher

Dear Parents,

I'm excited to welcome you to the 2018-2019 Third Grade Class of Bridge Builders! It's going to be a year full of adventure as we build bridges to the world around us!

My goal is to create an environment where your child feels valued and is inspired to explore, learn, and care about his or her world. Whether we're making new discoveries through math investigations or scientific experiments, reading and researching or writing and expressing ourselves - I want to help your child experience the joy of becoming a life-long learner.

My passion for teaching children comes from the gift I was given as a child. I grew up in a warm and loving family where I felt safe to ask questions and explore my interests, and I was blessed with teachers who really cared about helping me reach my best potential. Because of this rich heritage, I would like to give back. I love seeing the light come on in children's eyes when they get excited about learning and realize they have a significant contribution to make to their world.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Louisiana Tech University and a Masters in Education from Southwestern in Fort Worth, Texas. I have taught 16 years in 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Classrooms with an emphasis in TAG education 5 of those years. I have also directed a Children's Learning Center for 17 years. Eight of those years were in Atlanta, Georgia and nine years were in the Washington DC area.

My family is very important to me, and I love spending time with them! My husband Monty and I have been married for 36 years. We have two sons. Andy (31) is a building superintendent and lives in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife Tori and our 8 year old granddaughter, Brooke, 4 year old grandson, Noah, and 2 year old granddaughter, Joanna. Adam (28) and his wife, Laura, have just moved to Austin this summer where he is Associate Pastor at the Well Community Church.

I'm looking forward to getting to know your child this year! It's going to be a great learning adventure!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Watson
