About the Teacher
Hello! My name is Karen Strauss and I will be your child's World Cultures teacher this year. I am so excited to get started. My husband, David, and I have three children. Katelyn (20) is a junior at the University of Texas and is studying Mechanical Engineering, Kendall (18) is a freshman at Macalester College in Minnesota , and James (15) is a sophomore at RRHS. We also have an 10 year dog named Lili who is loved and spoiled by all of us. This is my 8th year teaching. I have taught math for 4 years and this will be my fourth year teaching World Cultures. I am a Native Texan born and raised in El Paso, Texas. After high school, I decided that I wanted to travel and was very fortunate to get a position with Southwest Airlines as a flight attendant. I was based in Oakland, CA and while I worked as a flight attendant, I attended college and graduated from California State University, East Bay with a degree in Accounting. I also completed a Teacher Recruitment Graduate program at Texas State University.
