About Mrs. Hanlon

I spent most of my life insisting that I was from New York, as I was born in Poughkeepsie, NY, and am still a Yankees fan.  But, having moved to Austin, TX in 3rd grade, I find my roots in Texas growing deeper and deeper and find a lot of pride in now seeing myself as a Texan. I have attended RRISD schools since my move to the area, at Brushy Creek, Cedar Valley, and McNeil.

I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Elementary Education.  I also have certifications in English as a Second Language, Advanced Literacy, and Gifted and Talented.  In addition to teaching, I am the owner of a Pediatric Therapy Clinic and Play Gym in Leander, Tx- Little Land Pediatric Therapy and Play Gym.

After graduation, I made my way back to RRISD as quickly as possible and have taught all 9 of my years in education in our district. I began my teaching career here at Laurel Mountain Elementary, then moved to Elsa England to be a little closer to home as my family grew, but my heart brought me back to LME last year. During those 9 years I taught grades 1-3, as well as 6th grade math as a long term substitute while I opened my business.

When I say my heart brought me back to LME, I really meant it, as my husband, and two youngest children are all back here with me! My husband, Josh, is teaching 5th grade this year, and Bryce (8) and Maddie (5) will be in third grade and kindergarten. Bryce is the Scout of the family and Maddie loves all things cheer, just like one of her big sisters. Speaking of big sister, I also have two stepdaughters, Mia and Skylar- both of which will be seniors this year, ahh!  Mia is a senior at the University of North Texas where she is completing her degree in Elementary Education, and Skylar is a senior at McNeil HS, where she is captain of the Varsity Cheer Team. Yes, she is attending the same high school I did! And I can't forget the stars of my home, my 2 dogs, Kaia and Luna.  They are both Bernedoodles, Kaia is a mini and Luna is a standard size.  When I am not at school or working at my business, I enjoy traveling, crafting, cheering on my children at their activities, and socializing with friends and family.
