The Basics
Hi! My name is Kim Ryan. I live in Leander with my husband, Nick, and our two daughters, Ella and Abby. We moved to Texas in 2010 from our home state of Ohio. We recently made the move to Leander after spending 15 years in Round Rock while our girls attended school. Now, that both our girls are graduates and are working full time in their chosen professions we felt it was time for a little more land and a little more country air. I enjoy spending most of my time with my family and making memories with every adventure we endure. Some of my favorite hobbies are portrait photography, refinishing old furniture, home improvements projects, painting pet portraits and working out.
My Education
I graduated from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.
Fun Fact: Wright State University was named to honor the aviation pioneers Orville and Wilbur Wright, who invented the world's first successful airplane in their Dayton bicycle shop.
My Work Experience
I taught high school art for 11 years at my alma mater, Northmont HS (Clayton, Ohio) , where I taught photography, art 1, art 2, ceramics, and airbrush. In 2016-2017 I established the first art program at Council Oak Preschool at the First United Methodist Church in Round Rock. I have also worked as a Para Professional, substitute teacher and a split art teacher for several years at Old Town Elementary from 2012-2022. I joined the Cactus Ranch Elementary family in January of 2017. I am very excited to move into my 10th year of teaching art at Cactus Ranch (22 teaching years total) and to share my love for art with students and the community.
These are a few of my favorite things:
Color - Red, Number – 4, Food – mostly anything except seafood, Movie – Forrest Gump, Drink – mostly water but my guilty pleasure is Dr. Pepper, Season – Fall in Ohio, Candy – M&Ms, Singer – I love so many, but I secretly want to be a rock star like Pink , Dessert – chocolate chip cookies, College Football Team – The Ohio State, Weird things I collect - I am an art teacher...we collect all kinds of weird things but, I mostly collect containers for art supply distribution and organization. I also collect a large amount of student appreciation notes and artwork that fill my love bucket daily.
