Welcome

Welcome to Ms. Deb's Art Room

Special Announcement for 2020-2021 School Year

As we start our current year under special circumstances, I just want to say how happy I am to have you all back in my class. Even though we are starting our school year virtually, I hope that things will become normal again and we will all be together pretty soon in a normal classroom.

There are no adjectives I can use to describe to you how awful and how unnatural this “distance learning” is for me, as much as I assume it is for you. Distance learning has presented many challenges for you and your family and for us teachers too. For all of us it is a learning curve and we can overcome anything if we work together.

I became a teacher for many reasons, but mostly because I enjoy our interactions. It helps me to help you explore your creativity, imagination, thinking out of the box that you will need to become the best person you can be, and in which you teach me to become a better instructor.

We will be together in class again. Stay with me and keep up with your learning. Do your very best, and I promise I will do my very best.

Mission For My Art Room

Art is vital to the human spirit. Art is used in every profession and it improves our enjoyment and respect of the beautiful variety of different people and places within the world. It speaks a visual language through colors and subjects that crosses all cultural barriers. It teaches history and it also teaches us so much about ourselves. Even more wonderful to me is that art is a subject that can be enjoyed by those whose goals are to be serious members of the art community as well as those who just have fun creating for creations sake.

My hope for this new school year is that students in my room will further increase their enjoyment and knowledge of various types of art, approach learning about art as both a personal and group experience, and have fun making art!
