I am so excited about having your child in my classroom this year. The students in my class become a family to me and to each other. I value relationship building over everything else. It is a big passion of mine to teach problem solving and social emotional skills to my students. I love watching the light bulb go off and seeing them applying these skills in the classroom and at home.
I am a firm believer that the first year of school is the most important. The way children view school will shape the course of their schooling in their life. I love seeing the excitement to learn new things and curiosity that children develop during the school year. Every year I am so amazed at what my students are curious about and the things they learn. My goal this year is to have your child leave Laurel Mountain for summer knowing that they are ready for first grade, are excited about school and learning, and that they are special and valued.
I am a graduate from Texas Lutheran University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I taught first grade in Killeen ISD then I moved back closer to home. So close that I am now a teacher at the school I grew up in. My mom was a teacher here at Laurel Mountain for 21 years and is now retired. I truly believe that she passed down a "teacher gene" to me because I have wanted to be a teacher my whole life. This will be my fifteenth year of teaching, fourteenth year teaching at Laurel Mountain, and my thirteenth year in Kindergarten. Kindergarten is where my heart is and I absolutely LOVE teaching it! I want to inspire my students the way my teachers inspired me when I was at Laurel Mountain.
I am really looking forward to partnering with you this year. If you ever need to talk, please feel free to email me at jessica_jackson@roundrockisd.org.
