Meet Mrs. Ibarra

Welcome Parents and Students!

My name is Megan Ibarra and I am so excited to be your 2nd grade teacher! I grew up in the DFW area and graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have lived in the Austin area for 15 years now. My husband Joel and I just celebrated our 14 year wedding anniversary! We have 2 sweet kiddos, Olivia (7 years old) and Owen (8 years old). Olivia is starting 2nd grade this year and Owen will be in 3rd grade-they love being Herrington Hawks!!!

This will be my 12th year teaching! I took a few years off to focus on my own little ones, but I have taught 3rd, 2nd and kindergarten right here in RRISD. This will be my fifth year at Herrington and I am looking forward to an awesome year! I am ESL (English as a Second Language) certified and have experience working with students receiving Special Education services as well at Gifted & Talented services.

Working with kids is a great passion of mine! A sense of community in our classroom is very important to me. Our room is a place where students feel comfortable to take risks, make mistakes, learn from them and grow. I believe that when a child feels loved, supported and respected they can truly embrace learning.

When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband and kids, exploring new places, doing home renovation projects and trying new restaurants. Yummy!!!
