Mission Statement:
I use my love for reading and writing to encourage the same in my students by providing them with the opportunity to read a variety of texts and by giving them the skills they need to write clearly so they will be able to successfully express, explain, evaluate, inquire, analyze, and argue about the topics and ideas that mean the most to them.
A Little About Me
This is my 15th year at Cedar Valley and I thoroughly enjoy being a teacher of reading and writing. I hope all of my students increase their interest in both reading and writing while they are in my class. I am a native Texan, earned a bachelor's degree in journalism at the University of Texas at Austin, and worked in media relations for several years. My husband Jamie is an Aggie and is a software engineer. We both value good conversation and humor, and as a result, our four children - all of whom graduated from Westwood High School - always keep us laughing. The photos at left are from our son Mike and his wife Ruchi's wedding last November. We are so happy to have Ruchi in our family! As both a parent and educator, be assured that I understand the challenges that students and parents face; our family deals with the same things. We are all on the same team, and I look forward to being a partner with you and your child.
