Mrs. Ogle's First Grade

WELCOME TO FIRST GRADE!

I am very excited about getting to know all of my first graders and their amazing families!  This year will be full of learning, experiences and of course, fun!

I grew up in Austin and stayed in  the Round Rock Independent School District for grades K-12.  I went to Westwood High School and enjoyed being a part of the SunDancer organization.   I attended Texas A&M (Class of '93) and was one of the first members of the Texas Aggie Dance Team which performed at the basketball games.  During my college years, I had the privilege of representing my hometown as Miss Round Rock USA and went on to compete for the Miss Texas USA pageant title, which was really a neat experience.  Although I didn’t win, I learned so much about myself and have memories that will last a lifetime.  I received my degree in Elementary Education and have been teaching for 29 years, all of which have been in First Grade.  I’ve taught in College Station, at Laurel Mountain Elementary and helped to open Canyon Creek so many years ago.  I really enjoy teaching and seeing the social, emotional, and academic learning that takes place in one year’s time.

My husband, Don,  and I have two daughters, Courtney (24) and Lauren (20). Courtney graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington with a bachelors degree in Exercise Science and Sports Management and while pursuing her masters degree at the University of Washington, was part of the coaching staff with the softball program. She graduated with her masters, played professional softball in Croatia this summer and now lives and coaches softball in Houston. Lauren graduated from Westwood High School a few years ago and is a junior at The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor with plans to become a physical therapist.  She has been a competitive gymnast most of her life and is a member of the UMHB Acrobatics & Tumbling Team.  She has a knack for remembering people, their names and things about them. They both attended Canyon Creek when they were younger and I have fond memories of watching them grow and succeed at school.  In my spare time I enjoy working on my scrapbooks, decorating cookies and spending time with my family and friends!

What an exciting year we have ahead of us! First grade is such a great year to watch your child continue to blossom in not only their academics but also socially!
