Hello, my name is Jean Riggins and I am the Intervention/Dyslexia Teacher at Canyon Creek Elementary.  I am excited to share this year with you and your child!

Here is a little information about me... I grew up in Baytown, Texas, located 15 miles east of Houston.  My two wonderful parents relocated to the Austin area after retirement, and I have two fabulous sisters. Upon graduation, I moved to Austin and attended the University of Texas - Hook 'em Horns! 

In December, my husband, Chad, and I will celebrate our twentieth wedding anniversary.  He is the perfect match for me! We both enjoy living in Austin and sharing the life we've created.  We have a wonderful 15-year old son (Clayton) who will be a sophomore at Westwood High School. Our amazing 13-year old daughter (Ellie) will be in 8th grade at Grisham Middle School this fall.  They are so much fun and keep us on our toes as we navigate the adolescent years!  We also have two dogs: Annabelle and Winnie, who adore naps, walks, and lots of snuggles! Life couldn't be better!

I taught first grade for twenty-one years here at Canyon Creek!  I have now ventured into the world of Intervention & Dyslexia services.  My own kiddos were my catalyst into this new area of education.  They are both inspiring learners with dyslexia.  They received amazing support in their elementary career at CCE and this support has ensured their continued success!  It is my goal this year to guarantee that all of my students see their strengths and talents and are able to achieve all that they want at school and in life.
