Canyon Creek ES InStructional Technology

Karen Connair is an Instructional Technology Specialist at Canyon Creek Elementary. She previously served this role at Deerpark Middle School were she was named 2021 DMS Teacher of the Year. She has been in RRISD since 2007 and was a teacher in the NextGen Digital Classroom pilot where her work in Fine Arts tech integration was published in multiple magazines. She has presented PD to various districts around the state as well as at TDEA, NDEO, and CEDFA Conventions and was named TDEA 2017 Dance Educator of the Year. During her 10 years at Cedar Ridge she developed new courses in Education and Media, founded new teams, and served as Department Chair, was a member of the PD committee. She believes that creativity and 21st century skills, along with a challenging and coordinated curriculum and adherence to the national standards, are of utmost importance for leading the most effective classes; and by merging content and digital engagement, produce our most valuable and productive members of today’s society. She looks forward to the lessons learned from her dance background to bring creativity, flexibility, and dedication to her ITS role. She was also selected as a participant in the 1st ARTSLead Cohort, a Leadership Development program in RRISD.
