The Five Pillars
Members of NJHS are held to a high standard in each of the following pillars:
Scholarship
Members must maintain a 95% average in their core subjects of math, language arts, social studies, and science.
Service
NJHS members seek out opportunities to help others, not only serving Hopewell but also the surrounding community. They complete 10 hours of service, volunteering without compensation, each semester.
leadership
NJHS members are leaders within their classes, clubs, athletic teams, organizations, and extracurricular activities. They look for opportunities to hone their leadership skills so that they can effect positive change in their many and varied communities.
character
Students in NJHS are cooperative, honest, reliable, courteous, and respectful.
Citizenship
Members of NJHS understand the importance of civic engagement, have a high regard for freedom and justice, respect the government and its authority figures. They show respect for the law at the local, state, and federal levels; they demonstrate mature participation in community organizations like scouts and school clubs.
