About Me

About Me:

I have been married for 23 years to my husband James. We have 3 sons, 2 boxer dogs, and a cat.  My oldest son is a junior at Angelo State University, my middle son is a senior at Round Rock High School, and my youngest is a freshman at Round Rock High School.  We love camping and hiking!

My Why:

My passion for teaching people to read started as a mom trying to understand her son.  I talk about my middle son, Robert, often.  When he entered kindergarten he was so excited to learn to read.  It's all he would talk about!  I slowly watched that excitement go away due to struggling, and it broke my heart.  When he was in 2nd grade he was diagnosed as dyslexic, and in 3rd grade we were told it was at the more severe end of the dyslexia spectrum.  I was frustrated because I didn't have the tools to help him with his homework.  So I went back to school.    9 years later here I am!  I know what it feels like to watch your child struggle and feel helpless.  I am here to not only support your child, but also you.  We are a team in your child's education journey!

Education Background:

This will be my 8th year in Round Rock ISD.  I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin (Hook 'Em!) in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Sciences,  and from The University of Texas at Arlington (Go Mavericks!) in 2022 with a Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Literacy.  I am a certified reading specialist and I have been trained in both the Wilson and Basic Language Skills programs.
