With the challenges in transportation staffing and expected delays, the SMART Tag system can be a real help. If your student rides the bus, the SMART Tag system wirelessly transmits information to the district transportation department, including the location of each bus, the names of the students onboard each bus and notification of an approaching bus. Students eligible for transportation are issued a SMART Tag ID card, which they will scan each time they load and unload the bus going to and from school. No personal identifying information is stored on the badge: only the student’s name and associated barcode will be printed on the ID badge. Parents of bus riders can login to the SMART Tag parent portal to set up SMART Alert text notifications that will tell you when and where your student gets on and off the bus. Visit the SMART Tag web page to learn more about the SMART Tag system, ID cards and parent portal.

Families of qualifying students will receive online accounts to purchase goods or services that help their student access public school and/or health related services at home or where care is provided.
SSES+ accounts begin with a $5,000 grant. Families are able to request additional funds for more expensive items through TEA. This form is only available through the SSES+ award email.
There is currently enough funding for all students who are identified as medically fragile. This funding is separate and apart from the current SSES program.
