Forest North Elementary Art

Mr. Schuppert

My name is Matt Schuppert and I am super excited to be joining Forest North Elementary as the new art teacher. I have many years of experience working in public education in multiple roles. I am passionate about helping young people foster and maintain their creativity and develop a love of learning that will serve them beyond the classroom and beyond childhood. In my spare time, I love traveling and camping with my wife, 2 kids, and dog Hank, watching live music, and hanging out with friends and family.

Our Schedule

Every Forest North student will have art at least one day per week during their designated "specials time".  That day will remain the same every week. Every class will also get a second weekly art session every 3rd Friday. Please use this schedule to help plan accordingly.

WHy Art?

In the fast paced, technology driven world we all live in, it might seem odd or even silly that students still take part in a weekly art class. The fact of the matter is that through art students have the opportunity to engage and persist, tap into their innate creativity while expressing and finding their voice. In art we develop our ability to observe, reflect, and infer. Through observation we gain understanding of different world perspectives, cultures, and time periods. In art we explore our own capacity as we stretch and explore theme, mood, and symbolism.  Ultimately it is my belief that good art instruction and experience helps build students connection, compassion, and understanding of what it means to be a human.
