What is Destination Imagination?
Destination Imagination is a global challenge program that fosters students’ creativity, courage and curiosity through open-ended academic challenges in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), fine arts and service learning. Students prepare a challenge to present at the Heart of Texas Region DI Tournament and are presented an "Instant Challenge" to solve. Students at grades K-2 (Rising Stars) are appraised but not eligible to advance to a state tournament and beyond, but students in grades 3-5 may advance based on their appraisals.
Teams are managed by parents or other interested adults. If a team is managed solely by non-school personnel, adults must be fingerprinted to ensure safety for the participants. Practice times are determined by team managers. Adults may not assist or interfere but can keep the team on track. The team must also supply appraisers and a volunteer for the tournament.
This year's tournament will be held on Saturday, February 17 at Cedar Ridge High School. Be aware that this is part of the President's Day holiday break from school. Students who will not be able to attend the tournament should not sign up.
To sign up, you are welcome to recruit 2-7 members for a team and an adult team manager. Contact the school coordinator (see contact page) to get more information about how to get your team officially registered. If you don't have a team, contact the school coordinator, and we'll try to form a new team.
