"I would tell the incoming students to have a prospective vision of what type of research they want to do. Once they find a field/topic, they should read up on the citation style that field uses."
"For incoming research students, I would strongly advise to pace yourself and follow a strict schedule/timeline in completing their research study over the school year."
"Advice: Organization is very important!! Throughout this class, you will do a lot of research, which means you will find a lot of different studies/articles so I would recommend having some sort of system where you organize your different sources. This could be a folder on your computer, in your google drive, on a google doc or a spreadsheet. Also, you will be writing a lot of drafts throughout the class, so organizing those into different folders in your google drive will also help you in the end. "
"Do not procrastinate because it’ll Bite you on the butt. Also, don’t have a crappy computer because it will destroy all your hard work."
"I would probably tell kids that the class is really mostly what you get out of it what you put in, and that you can only really do well if you are fairly self motivated."
"My advice for an incoming AP Research student: Make sure you have a good relationship with the people in your class so that you can freely give and receive criticism that will benefit all of you. Don't be afraid to use your peers as a resource and ask for advice when you need it, sometimes a second opinion is the difference between good and great!"
