Romance fiction is characterized by a theme of love. It has a central focus on the development of a romantic relationship between two people and builds to an optimistic conclusion. These stories often: include a conflict challenging the relationship that needs to be overcome, minimize the issues outside of the developing relationship, are told from a female’s perspective and feature strong-willed & clever female characters, follow the moral principle that good behavior is rewarded with unconditional love, and have a happy ending.
