COMPUTER SCIENCE

Welcome to computer science at Deerpark MS. This year, students enrolled in Fundamentals of Computer Science will be learning programming, computational thinking, and algorithmic problem solving via Code.org's CS Discoveries program.

Computer Science Discoveries (CS Discoveries) is an introductory computer science course that empowers students to create authentic artifacts and engage with computer science as a medium for creativity, communication, problem solving, and fun.

UNIT OVERVIEW:

GRADE SUMMARIES

Daily 25%: General activities, professional responsibilities, participation, overview sessions. These activities occur within the classroom and are thus subject to student presence. Kahoot content reviews (Quick Looks within the gradebook) are such an example as well as Weekly Performance.

Product (Minor) 30%: Work assignments, project contributions, unit reviews. These are what most might consider "homework" (keeping in mind that work to be completed at home or off campus is quite rare). Assignments that introduce and practice content for the given unit fall under this category.

Product (Major) 45%: Tests, mastery projects.

LATE ASSIGNMENTS/WORK

Daily/Product (Minor) work must be submitted by IPR interval for full credit.

Product (Major) work has five days after the due date to submit corrections.
