What do I need to purchase for class?

All you need is a  #2 pencil for drawing. There is a $15 per semester art fee that covers the cost of  all materials, including your hardcover sketchbook.

Can I skip MS1 to join the MS2 course?

No, all students must begin in MS1. We have a three tiered system of learning and progression and techniques and skills taught in MS1 carry over into MS2.

What requirements are needed to take HS1?

Students that successfully complete MS1 and/or MS2 are eligible to take the HS1 course as an 8th grader.

Can I take HS1 as a 7th grader?

No, HS1 is a high school credit course and only open to students in 8th grade with previous art experience.

I didn't take art in 6th or 7th grade, can I take HS1 in 8th grade?

Only if you have been working on art outside of school. A portfolio of current work done within one year can be submitted for review to fulfil the prerequisite for the course. See you counselor or Ms. Pickerill for an application. The application and portfolio must be submitted by May 1.
