Fostering Community During Asynchronous Learning

Now, more than ever, relationships and connection are vitally important in our lives. However, our traditionally supported methods for fostering relationships with, and between, students might not be possible in an asynchronous learning format. Below are many resources you can use when personalizing your slides to deliver content to students.

Fun Ways to Maintain Relationships During Asynchronous Learning:

  • Record a video of yourself welcoming students back - include this in the announcements section of your slides.

  • Provide opportunities in Google Classroom or Seesaw for students to share. Topics might include:

    • What they've been up to

    • Good things / Gratitude

    • Examples of 7 habits at home

    • Scavenger Hunt

  • Include a mood meter to check in with students (see below)

  • Include a challenge calendar for students to complete with their families (see below)

  • Construct opportunities for students to collaborate virtually in Google Classroom (see the button below for a deeper explanation)
