Coach Abt is returning for his second year at Westwood High School. Last year he was an assistant football coach and freshman basketball coach. He had the opportunity to go to the playoffs with both athletic programs in his first year coaching at the high school competitive level. He also led the freshmen basketball team to a district championship, almost closing out undefeated season.

Abt is originally from Fredonia, New York and graduated from Fredonia High School in 2001. He attended the State University of New York at Fredonia and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelors in Arts for History & Social Studies Adolescence. He also earned a Bachelors in Science for Audio/Radio Production and has a passion for music and sound engineering.

After college, Abt and his fiancé chose to move to Austin, TX. He has taught in the state of Texas for 6 years and coached for 4. He is certified to teach Social Studies/History and currently teaches 9th grade World Geography and 10th grade World History.

This year Coach Abt will be the Junior Varsity head coach and assistant to the Varsity led by Coach Brad Hastings. He is very excited to continue his passion for the game and to instill those same emotions in the athletes he gets to work with and instruct every day.

Coach Abt is happily married to Stephanie Abt. He met Steph in college and they have been together since 2005. They have two children, Vivian (4) and Theo (1). His hobbies include playing basketball and softball, weight lifting, playing video games, and reading. When able, he is always watching sports television and TV shows/movies with his wife. He also loves to play the guitar and drums. Being there for his family takes top priority and he is very involved in working with his students and athletes to make them better citizens in their community, state, country, and world.
