How to Join Orchestra

Interested in joining orchestra and wondering what's next? Time to select your instrument or audition for placement if you already play!

Instrument Selection meetings for students brand new to orchestra will be held on Saturday, April 11th, 2026 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM in the CVMS Orchestra Room. During this time, interested students who have no prior experience will have a chance to try out all of the string instruments and meet the orchestra directors! Once you've found the instrument you love the most, we'll get you signed up for the correct orchestra class and give you information about how to get an instrument as well as other useful information about getting started in orchestra.

Is your child interested in learning about the instruments prior to the Instrument Selection meeting? Please visit our "String Instrument Exploration" page to listen to the instruments.

Audition materials for students with prior playing experience (1+ years) will be posted here and sent out after Spring Break via email to those who request and Audition. Audition Videos will be due April 11th, 2026.

If you plan to submit an audition, please complete the Audition Request Form (to ensure that you receive video audition upload instructions and guidelines).
