Checking out library materials

1. Students may have up to five items on their account at one time.

2. Most items are checked out for three weeks; graphic novels are checked out for one week.  Students with overdue books may not check out any more books until their record is clear.  We do not charge overdue fines but lost/damaged books must be paid for.

You can pay for lost or damaged books here:  https://roundrockisdtx.schoolwindow.com/estore/cvms/cavms-library.html

3. Students who are blocked from checking out can use our Read and Return area, which has lots of great titles.  Choose what you like and take it with you; please return it when you are done, if possible.

Library Visits and Technology Use

1. Language Arts teachers regularly bring students to the library for checkout but any student may visit the library independently during the school day with a pass from a teacher and a library purpose.

2. Before school, the library is used for a variety of purposes, but it is still considered a learning space.  Students may check out materials, read silently, work on school tasks or work in our makerspace.

4. Printing black and white copies may be done with permission for school assignments.  Students are limited to ten pages of printing.

How to Place a Hold on a Book

If it is a local hold (we own a copy of the book) students are asked to place the hold themselves:

1. Once on the online catalog find the title that you want and press the purple "Place Hold" button on the right side of the screen.   You'll be prompted to log in to your account.  Your username and password are both your student ID number, no "s."

2. Confirm your hold by pressing the buttons the system presents to you.

3.  LOG OUT of your account if you're using a public computer.

*Holds are available to be placed only on books that are currently checked out.

*Holds will be delivered to students when they become available.

If the book is owned by another campus (CVMS does not a copy of the book) please see the Circulation Desk and they will assist you in placing a hold.  You may also email the librarian directly with the title of your book request.
