Hello! I am so glad to have you in my class this year! You are in good hands. I love teaching math! My favorite parts are playing math games, using music in the class, and 6th graders!
This is my 32nd year to teach, and my final year to teach. I am retiring after this school year! The last 18 have been in 6th grade math. Before that I taught elementary.
In my free time I enjoy spending time watching my boys play baseball, fishing at ponds and the coase, sitting on the beach, and fixing up my house.
I am really excited to meet all of you. We are going to have a fabulous year!!!
This is my husband Brian and I.
This is my son Ridge (freshman at Blinn College) and his girlfriend, Maddie.
This is my son West (Junior at Westwood) and I.

Daily Agenda:
For a detailed list of what we are doing this week, we will be using Schoology.
My tutorials:
PM- Tuesdays until 4:15
AM-Wednesdays starting at 7:45
**No pass or scheduling is needed for tutorials. All you need to do is show up. :)
Grading Policy:
10% homework
30% quizzes (2-3 per 9-weeks)
60% tests (3 per 9-weeks)
All students will make test corrections to every test, regardless of the grade earned.
If a student receives a grade less than 70% on any assessment they need to:
-correct their original assessment
-corrections for a maximum grade of 70%
-tutorials are recommended but not required
Checking on Grades:
To see the most updated grade, please check Home Access Center. I would recommend you check grades once a week. Pick a day that is good for you. In our house Friday is good. It helps dictate what they can do on the weekend. I would also recommend you set alerts in HAC so you receive a text or email telling you when something has gone wrong or needs attention. To learn how to turn on alerts, please watch this video. It is not made by RRISD, but it is easy to follow.
Make Up Work/Late Work:
If a student is absent, it is their responsibility to get the work that was missed. This is found in Schoology. The homework will be posted and can be completed online or be printed and completed on paper. The online journal that contains the class notes and a video of this lesson being taught.
He/she will have the same number of days they were gone to turn in the makeup work. If they miss an assessment, they will be expected to take it when all their makeup work is due.
If your student fails to turn in an assignment on time, there will be a 10 point penalty for turning it in 1 day late. After that, there will be an additional 5 points taken off for each day.
Journal Videos:
This journal is an online version of the one we will make in class. It includes links to the actual documents, video of me teaching the lessons, and a picture of the completed journal page. Enjoy this fantastic resource!
