Our Vision
The vision of Callison Elementary School Counseling program is to provide a proactive, comprehensive, and developmentally appropriate program that supports growth in academics, social-emotional learning, and career awareness for every student. In partnership with staff, students, families, and the community, we believe that all students will develop the knowledge and skills needed to become successful, productive citizens, and lifelong learners in a diverse and changing world.
Our Mission
The mission of Callison Elementary School Counseling program is to provide every student with the skills necessary to ensure their social-emotional, academic, and career success through the delivery of a proactive, comprehensive, and developmentally appropriate curriculum. We believe that every student can grow into successful, productive citizen and a lifelong learner in a diverse and changing world.
Structured lessons and morning broadcast videos for every PK-5 classroom on social-emotional topics including:
bullying and teasing,
making and keeping friends,
conflict resolution and decision-making,
staying safe and healthy habits
developing a healthy sense of self and coping skills,
transition to middle school
manners, empathy and kindness
motivation and overcoming challenges
dealing with stress and test anxiety, and
exploring college and careers
Students learn these skills with a variety of interactive teaching methods, including listening to and discussing stories, participating in activities and games, and practicing skills with puppets or role plays. A more in depth explanation of the lessons and the dates of delivery is available upon request.
Collaboration and consultation with parents/guardians, students, and staff is available to assist with planning and problem-solving in regards to academic, social-emotional, or behavioral needs of students.
Individual and small group counseling sessions consist of brief, solution focused, strengths based interventions to assist students with difficulties that happen both at school and home to help them be successful during the school day.
