Parent and Guardian Information
Parents and Guardians please use this site as an up to date resource for the Forensic Science course.
There are several forms that are required for student participation in Forensic Science. A paper copy of these forms was provided to your student on the first day of class. Please email if you require another copy.
Class Policies
Supplies- Students need to have the following items in class everyday: notebook or binder, and personal supplies like pencils, glue sticks, colored pencils, highlighters, etc.
Grading - Grades are divided into two categories.
Major Grades (45% of final grade) - Tests, Quizzes, Projects, and Lab Reports
Homework and Classwork (55% of final grade) - Daily Work and Homework Assignments
Tardy Policy- Any student is considered Tardy if they are not in their assigned seat with all listed supplies when the bell rings. Exceptions of course will be made with signed notes from campus staff. 3 Tardies will result in a detention or referral.
Missing and Late Work Policy - Students who are missing assignments or failed to turn in homework will not be allowed to participate in laboratory activities. They will be required to work on missing assignments during lab time and must come in during tutorials to make up the lab as well. An assignment is expected to be turned in at the beginning of the period and will be counted late after it is first collected. Late work will be excepted for up to a 70 one day late and up to a 50 during the next class period (2 days late). Assignments will not be accepted past that unit test.
Redo/Retake Policy - A retest can replace a failed test/exam up to a 70. Retest must be no later than 1 week following the return of the test or prior to the end of the grading period (if less than one week). To be eligible for retest students must have completed their review prior to the original test date and must attend at least one tutoring over failed material. If a student scores less than a 70 on a daily assignment/lab that is turned in on time, they may redo the assignment during tutorials for up to a 70. The redo must be completed within 1 week of the original assignment or prior to that unit’s exam.
Cellphone Policy- RRISD policy is that cell phones are not to be on, visible, or audible during school hours. Cell phones must remain off during off class times. If a cell phone is used or visible in class it will be collected by the teacher and may either be given back to the student and the end of the period or may be turned in to the AP office. Cell phones turned in to the office can be picked up by a student or parent at the end of the student's school day for a fee of $15.00.
