• Keep an extra set of clothes in your child's backpack.

• Send a healthy snack daily.

• Read to your child every night.

• Check blue folders on a daily basis.

• Send a doctor's note when your child is out.

• Deje un cambio de ropa en la mochila de su hijo/a.

• Mande una merienda nutritiva todos los días.

• Lean con su hijo/a todas las noches.

• Revisen las carpetas azules todos los días.

• Mande una nota del doctor cuando su hijo/a no viene a la escuela.

PK Goals / Metas de Prekínder

Pre-k is a fun and exciting year for your child. We focus on social and emotional development as well as academic development. There are many ways you can work with your child during the school year.

• Practice writing his/ her name correctly (NOT all capital letters)

• Practice naming all uppercase and lowercase letters

• Introduce letter sounds

• Learn basic colors

• Learn basic shapes (circle, square, triangle, and rectangle)

• Name numbers 0-10

• Count with 1:1 correspondence

• Practice counting to at least 20

• Practice cutting

• Practice holding pencil correctly

• Read to your child daily. Remember to ask lots of questions about the story.

Letters and numbers are EVERYWHERE! Point them out to your child whenever possible. You can even make it into a car game (let’s look for all the D’s on signs, etc). Later in the year I will provide letter and number flashcards.

I look forward to working with you and your child this school year. I know that we can work together as a team in making Pre-K a fun and meaningful year for your little one.

Pre-k es un año muy divertido para su hijo(a). Nos enfocamos en el desarrollo social, emocional y académico de su hijo(a). Hay diferentes maneras en las que usted puede ayudar a su hijo(a) a prepararse durante este verano para un año lleno de diversión.

• Practicar escribir el nombre (NO solamente con letras mayúsculas)

• Practicar todas las letras del abecedario, mayúsculas y minúsculas

• Introducción a los sonidos de las letras

• Aprender los colores básicos

• Aprender las figuras básicas (circulo, cuadrado, triangulo, y rectángulo)

• Nombrar y reconocer números del 0 al 10

• Practicar contar hasta el número 20

• Practicar el uso de las tijeras

• Practicar sostener el lápiz correctamente

• Leerle a su hijo(a) diariamente.Acuérdense de hacer muchas preguntas acerca de la historia.

¡ Recuerde que letras y números hay en todos lados! Puede enseñarselas a su hijo(a) de cualquier manera posible.
