My History:
I was born in New York City, but moved to Texas when I was 1 year old and grew up in Houston. I went to college at the University of Texas @ Austin- Hook 'em Horns!- and after I graduated, I decided to teach abroad for a year. I taught English Oral Language to 8th graders in Beijing, China, and as homesick as I was the first few months, some of my most memorable experiences are from that year! Then I came back and taught 5th grade at Brushy Creek Elementary for 3 years, and this will be my 21st year at Canyon Vista!
Why I choose to teach:
Despite all the stress, tears, and extra hours (it's a 24/7 job), the bonds that I form with my kids and the moments we share together in the classroom are priceless. At the end of the year, I feel like I've done something meaningful, and that's what makes me come back every year.
My Heroes:
My older brother, Yuen, who has always been there for the family and instilled in me many important values, one of them being that family comes first. My parents who came to the U.S. with nothing, but worked hard and managed to put my brothers and I through college. In my eyes, they are two of the most successful people I know.
Interests:
spending time with my family and friends; cooking/baking; binge watching tv shows; shopping; playing with my foster dog, Gabby
Einstein, my dog and love of my life, passed away last year and my sweet cat, Sophie, went to go join Einstein this past summer:(
