Immunizations
Immunization is an important way to protect oneself and the community from vaccine-preventable disease. While most vaccinations are received in early childhood, adolescents 11 years and older need additional protection against tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough) and meningitis.
The State of Texas requires all students to be up-to-date on their immunizations in order to enter school.
Vaccine requirements vary from state to state--please check to make sure your student has had TWO doses of both the Hepatitis-A and Varicella vaccines.
There are a variety of resources for vaccination, from your child's physician to other local agencies/businesses. Click on the Resources tab on this website to learn more.
If you choose not to have your child immunized, the appropriate up-to-date paperwork must be obtained and submitted by the parent/guardian prior to the first day of school.

On a final note, please consider enrolling your child in the state immunization registry, ImmTrac2.
This is an excellent and secure way to maintain an up-to-date immunization record for your student.
As a bonus, adults may also enroll. You may need proof of vaccination for a variety of reasons during adulthood (e.g. college/trade school, employment, international travel, emergency care).
