About Mrs. Tidwell
Thank you for visiting our class website! I am excited that this will be my 22nd year to teach Language Arts!
I feel blessed to teach in the same district in which I grew up. I was a Laurel Mountain Lion, a Canyon Vista Mustang, and a Westwood Warrior. While attending Westwood, my favorite two organizations that I was a part of were PROS and SunDancers. I loved dancing so much that I high-kicked my way to Kilgore College where I was a member of the Rangerettes (58th Line). I completed my college experience at The University of Texas at Austin earning a degree in Applied Learning and Development.
I love teaching! I love reading and writing! I love grammar! I love grammar because it’s about communication; I love teaching students how to be more skilled communicators. My favorite genres to read and write are non-fiction, especially history.
I’m a teacher because I love learning. My favorite professional organization to be a part of is the Heart of Texas Writing Project at UT Austin. Teachers in the project value process, authenticity, and reflection.
My husband is a teacher too; he teaches sixth grade Science at Cedar Valley Middle School. We love to travel, eat at restaurants, spend time with our two cats, and hang out in the backyard. I also enjoy knitting, crochet, art, and linguistics.
